Pondero Winchester – University Education: The use of virtual reality in 2035

The results of this nationally funded project explore how virtual reality and AI technologies will shape learning in 2035. Will there be cheap off the shelf training to fund engaging immersive learning? Or opportunities for students to create their own virtual objects and spaces?

Dr Fiona Handley is Principal Lecturer at The Learning and Teaching Hub, Centre for Digital Cultures and Innovation at the University of Brighton working on blended learning, digital literacies and curriculum design with research interests in XR (virtual and augmented reality) in education. She is particularly interested in issues to do with digital capabilities and curriculum design, especially the interface between pedagogy, quality assurance, governance and technological issues. Fiona’s academic background is in archaeology and heritage studies. and she has held various teaching and research positions relating to these in the UK and USA, as well working as a museums and heritage consultant. Fiona is currently researching student technology ambassadors, virtual reality, and the use of technology in learning and teaching practices. She continues to research and publish in her subject area of heritage and archaeology.
