Pondero Candover Valley – Blown Away: A blueprint for post traumatic growth
We are delighted that inspirational speaker Simon Harmer of Blown Away will be giving the inaugural talk of the Autumn 2021 series of Candover Valley Pondero. In this presentation Simon talks about how with help, he recovered after receiving life-changing injuries in Afghanistan. We will all go through some rough patches at some point in our life; Simon discusses his ‘blueprint for post-traumatic growth’ in this session and how he moved on.
Simon Harmer has Alpine skied, tandem parachuted, cycled across America, completed a half ironman, swum Lake Windermere and become an influencer in the growing open water winter swimming scene. He has spoken to audiences across Europe with some of the biggest brands, including Tedx, Facebook, The Royal Ballet School, Northampton Saints Rugby Club to name but a few. He has achieved all of this, despite experiencing life-changing injuries as a result of an operational incident that cut short that successful military career. He has not just survived, but thrived, continuing to support his family and living his life as a ‘thank you’ to those who were there for him when the time came for him to need them. Simon refuses to be defined by his injures. Working as a freelancer and as a consultant, he leads an active lifestyle, and has found new ways of enjoying the things he did pre-injury. These experiences have given him the unique gift of absolute adaptability, that is a desired quality in a world of uncertainty and chaos. www.simonharmer.com
